S. Korea, Czech Republic hold working-level talks to boost economic ties

SEOUL, Feb. 7 (Yonhap) — South Korea and the Czech Republic held working-level talks Friday to discuss ways to strengthen economic cooperation in energy, advanced technology, infrastructure and other areas.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said it held a task force meeting with its Czech counterpart to deepen the strategic partnership signed between the two countries last year.

In September, the leaders of the two nations agreed to expand cooperation in various fields, including advanced technology, energy security and climate responses, as well as bio, digital, transportation and infrastructure.

Friday’s meeting covered expanding bilateral cooperation in research and development projects in industry and energy sectors, and launching a joint industrial center to promote cooperation in the fields of future mobility, robotics and batteries, according to the ministry.

“To deepen the strategic partnership with the Czech Republic, we need to form a close collaborative relationship and actively push for various joint projects,” Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun said.

The finance, science and defense ministries also attended the meeting to discuss their respective cooperation projects with the European nation, such as Ukraine’s reconstruction project and a railway project.
