Hanwha Aerospace, LIG Nex1 to showcase air defense systems at UAE’s IDEX trade show

 

SEOUL, Feb. 13 (Yonhap) — Hanwha Aerospace Co. and LIG Nex1 Co., major South Korean defense equipment firms, plan to showcase their latest cutting-edge air defense systems at the International Defence Exhibition & Conference (IDEX) 2025 in the United Arab Emirates this month, the companies said Thursday.

Hanwha Aerospace, together with affiliate Hanwha Systems Co., will display its long-range surface-to-air missile (L-SAM) system at the IDEX 2025, the Middle East’s largest defense industry trade show set to take place from Feb. 17-21 in Abu Dhabi.

It will be the first overseas display of the advanced missile defense system, according to the company.

The Hanwha Group units will also exhibit key components of the L-SAM system, including interceptor missiles, launchers and multifunction radars.

LIG Nex1, which has been participating in the trade show since 2009, plans to showcase its flagship Cheongung-II missile defense system, along with its L-SAM system and low-altitude missile defense (LAMD) system.

The company secured export deals for the Cheongung-II system from Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the UAE in the past.

In addition, LIG Nex1 plans to display its latest unmanned and smart warfare technologies, including its unmanned surface vehicles and advanced guided weapons for its unmanned aerial vehicles.
