KOTRA hosts business forum for AI, energy cooperation between S. Korea, UAE

SEOUL, Nov. 21 (Yonhap) — The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) said Friday it has hosted a business forum on artificial intelligence (AI) and energy in Abu Dhabi to promote cooperation between South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the sectors.

The 2025 Korea-UAE Business Partnership event was held Thursday (local time) as an official sideline event of the business roundtable of the two countries in the Middle Eastern nation.

The forum was attended by 23 AI and energy firms from Korea, and 69 companies from the UAE, Qatar and other countries in the region.

In the forum, South Korean companies agreed to push for potential business deals, worth a combined US$12.85 million, with their regional partners, KOTRA said.

Earlier this week, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a summit in Abu Dhabi and agreed to jointly develop a cooperation model for entering global markets based on the Barakah nuclear power plant model.

The Barakah plant was built by South Korea’s state-run Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO), marking Korea’s first-ever overseas nuclear energy plant project.

Seoul has also decided to join the UAE’s Stargate project centered on AI and energy infrastructure.
