SEOUL, Feb. 20 (Yonhap) — Samsung Heavy Industries Co. said Friday it has secured a 368 billion-won (US$254 million) contract to build one liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier for a shipper in Oceania.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery by May 2028, the company said in a press release, without giving the name of the client.
With the latest deal, Samsung Heavy said it has received ship orders worth US$1.9 billion so far this year, achieving about 14 percent of its annual order target of $13.9 billion.
The company said it plans to maintain its strategy to focus on winning deals to build higher-margin ships, such as container and LNG carriers, this year.
